Job summary

Amazon in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to lead the design, development, and delivery of large-scale software systems. You will own architectural direction, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions across teams to ensure performance, security, and reliability.

You will influence roadmaps, collaborate across groups, and apply AI tools to streamline workflows while upholding best practices. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within AWS Cloudscape.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years programming with at least one language.
• 5+ years leading design/architecture of systems.
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation across the full development lifecycle, from strategy to deployment.
• Own architectural direction, evaluate tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance and security.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to ensure cohesive system integration and design artifacts.
• Mentor engineers to raise the engineering bar through practices and reviews.
• Apply AI tools to improve development workflows and adopt responsible, well‑tested approaches.
• Influence product roadmap.
