HealthEZ is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Architect to couple hands-on software development with solution design and technical leadership. You will own technical direction for teams, guide offshore developers, review code, and contribute production-grade solutions within HealthEZ architecture standards.

You will lead planning, create design artifacts, and make decisions that balance delivery with architecture goals, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering with design & leadership.
• Hands-on C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core experience; coding is expected.
• Experience directing technical direction for products, projects or teams.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, SQL Server, Azure, Azure DevOps, Git/PR workflows, CI/CD.
• Experience with Angular and/or React and external platforms integration.
• Experience with offshore or distributed development teams preferred.

Job DetailsThe Opportunity

HealthEZ is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Architect who combines hands-on software engineering with solution design and technical leadership. Reporting to the Architectural Lead Engineer, this role will own technical direction for assigned teams or workstreams while continuing to contribute directly to implementation.

This is not a whiteboard-only architecture role. The successful candidate will lead technical planning, make solution-level design decisions, guide offshore development teams, review code, troubleshoot complex issues, and write production code when needed. Broader platform, security, data, and cross-system architecture decisions will be escalated to the Architectural Lead Engineer.

QualificationsWhat You’ll Do

Technical Ownership & Solution Design

• Own solution design and technical decisions for an assigned team, product area, or workstream within established HealthEZ architecture standards.


• Translate business and technical requirements into implementable designs covering application components, APIs, data flows, integrations, dependencies, and system boundaries.


• Lead technical planning before implementation begins, identifying risks, sequencing, dependencies, trade-offs, and key engineering decisions.


• Create practical architecture diagrams and technical documentation sufficient for development and support.

Hands-On Engineering & Code Quality

• Contribute directly to application and integration development, particularly complex, high-risk, or foundational work.


• Perform pull requests and code reviews and provide actionable feedback on quality, maintainability, security, testing, and consistency.


• Prototype technical approaches and troubleshoot complex issues across applications, APIs, data, integrations, and Azure services.


• Model strong engineering practices and help move work from task-level development toward greater engineering ownership.

Offshore Development Team Leadership

• Provide clear day-to-day technical direction to offshore development teams and technical leads.


• Ensure teams understand the architecture, design intent, implementation approach, and quality expectations before development begins.


• Resolve implementation questions and challenge approaches that create unnecessary complexity, security risk, operational fragility, or architectural drift.


• Identify recurring quality or capability gaps and work with engineering leadership to address them.

Architecture, Integration & Security

• Apply and reinforce architecture standards, escalating decisions with broader platform, security, data, or long-term implications.


• Design secure, reliable, supportable APIs and integrations using clear contracts, versioning, validation, error handling, retry behavior, idempotency, and observability.


• Work across modern API/event-driven integrations as well as healthcare file, batch, EDI, and vendor-specific interfaces.


• Build security, least-privilege access, PHI/PII protection, logging, monitoring, traceability, and auditability into solution design and implementation.


• Favor reuse, standardization, and incremental modernization over unnecessary new technologies, point-to-point integrations, or large rewrites.

What We Expect From You

Experience & Technical Expertise

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing responsibility for technical design and engineering leadership.


• Strong recent hands-on experience with C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core; this role is not intended for someone who has moved entirely away from coding.


• Experience owning technical direction for a product area, project, development team, or significant workstream.


• Strong experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Git/PR workflows, and CI/CD.


• Experience with Angular and/or React and integrating with external platforms, APIs, and file-based interfaces.


• Experience working with distributed, offshore, or outsourced development teams strongly preferred.

Engineering Judgment & Leadership

• Strong understanding of API design, service boundaries, integration architecture, authentication/authorization, resiliency, observability, secure software design, and automated testing.


• Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions independently while recognizing when broader architectural review is required.


• Ability to lead through influence, give clear technical direction, and hold development teams accountable to engineering standards.


• Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to challenge weak approaches and propose lower-risk alternatives.

Nice to Have

• Healthcare payer, TPA, claims administration, eligibility, benefits, or healthcare EDI experience.


• Experience with healthcare technology vendors, clearinghouses, HL7/FHIR, or high-volume file/batch integrations.


• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, SSIS/ETL pipelines, SSRS, or Crystal Reports.

Additional Opportunity Details:

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $110,000-$160,000*
