You will be working on key components of iCloud and introducing new fundamental capabilities. Our team is responsible for ensuring the protection of iCloud customer data, and we contribute to groundbreaking products such as Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, ensuring customer data remains secure end-to-end. Our team is also responsible for the hardware integrity initiatives for Apple silicon in data centers, supporting critical platforms such as Private Cloud Compute. Description

We are a high-leverage team designing, building, and growing Apple’s foundational privacy-focused platform enabling many of Apple’s signature apps and experiences. Our work impacts over a billion users and is essential to the success of Apple’s growth in services. As part of the iCloud Platform organization, you will:

1. Partner with teams across Apple to develop features and functionality to enable new experiences in the Apple ecosystem
2. Improve the scalability, availability, and performance of our services
3. Evolve the design and architecture to support continued growth across multiple dimensions
4. Partner with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues

Minimum Qualifications

1. 5+ years of work experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems
2. Working experience with programming languages of Java, Swift, C, Go, or Python
3. Experience in performance benchmarking, debugging, and tuning distributed systems
4. Experience in cloud deployment and monitoring technologies, such as Kubernetes
5. Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience

Preferred Qualifications

1. Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with diverse groups of people
2. Experienced in managing technical and organizational complexity, able to drive a project from a simple idea to production
3. Deep understanding of cryptographic protocols, data encryption, secure key management, and security architectures
4. Experience with hardware security modules (HSMs) and secure enclave technologies
5. Adept at approaching problems from a position of curiosity, working with flexibility to find innovative solutions

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
