Job summary

Tempus AI, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale high‑quality software systems across the stack for our health data platform.

You will help create AI‑integrated data pipelines and real‑time insights from patient records, influence architecture, and promote engineering excellence. In this role you will build scalable web applications and backend services, contribute to the overall design, and ensure code quality through reviews and testing.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python, TypeScript, or Java and SQL.
• Experience building scalable, maintainable web applications.
• Experience in software design, system architecture, and documentation.
• Strong debugging across distributed or multi-service systems.
• Experience writing automated tests across multiple layers of the stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services.
• Plan and deliver new services from front end to back end.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for scale.
• Contribute to software design and architecture decisions.
• Improve code quality through reviews and best practices.
• Debug and resolve issues across multiple services.
• Build and maintain automated data flows using pipelines and scripts.
• Write automated unit, integration, and system tests.
• Manual testing of code including edge cases and failure scenarios.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve products.
