Job summary

Humana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, develop, and maintain action and policy platforms for real-time decisioning across digital and assisted channels. You will design scalable microservices, robust data models, and integrate enterprise rules systems to enable deterministic policy evaluation.

You will work with Drools/DMN/ODP-based tools, apply AI-assisted practices, and ensure high availability, low latency, and strong governance across the system.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of backend or platform engineering experience.
• Proven ability to build microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Experience integrating enterprise rules engines (Drools, ODM, DMN, OPA, or similar).
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Python; AI-assisted development tools a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and operate microservices delivering action and variant metadata and policy evaluation.
• Design resilient database schemas for versioning, dating, and metadata relationships.
• Integrate and manage enterprise rules engines with deterministic, versioned execution.
• Collaborate with platform, data, and ML teams; mentor junior engineers and uphold standards.
