Job summary

AHEAD is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build Hatch, our flagship platform. You will own features end to end, design and ship full-stack solutions, and work with AI tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.

You will mentor teammates, participate in architecture decisions, and collaborate with end users and stakeholders to frame problems and deliver reliable software on Elixir and Phoenix.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years building and shipping software from idea to production.
• Strong engineering judgement; distinguish solid solutions from shaky ones, including AI-generated code.
• A product mindset: start from user needs and outcomes, sweat the details.
• Fluency with modern AI development tools and coding agents, with discipline to verify and own outputs.
• Stack-agnostic adaptability; pick up new languages quickly; Elixir and Phoenix experience preferred but not required.
• Solid foundation in software design, architecture, and practices that keep systems reliable, including testing, CI, and containerization.
• Clear, direct communication; ability to express intent precisely to teammates and tools.
• Senior engineer instincts: lead projects, mentor others, raise the team's level.

Responsibilities

• Own features and problems end to end from user understanding through design, delivery, and support.
• Design and build full-stack solutions for internal and public web apps with pragmatic architectural decisions.
• Work at high leverage with AI tools and agents; review, test, and harden everything you ship.
• Engage across the full development lifecycle: analysis, implementation, integration, testing, debugging, support.
• Lead code reviews and raise the bar on quality while mentoring others.
• Work directly with end users and stakeholders to understand the business problem behind each request.
• Help set estimates and milestones; balance technical risk against cost and deadlines.
• Help drive the future roadmap of the engineering team and AHEAD.
