Job summary

Pikl is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and run the systems behind its insurance products and partner integrations. You will work in a modern TypeScript stack (Next.js, React, Express, MySQL, AWS) and own major services from data modeling to deployment.

You will contribute to frontend work with React/Next.js and apply AI tooling to improve design, testing, and debugging while maintaining high quality and security standards. Hybrid work across Norwich and London is supported.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on TypeScript backend development experience.
• Experience designing APIs and services with relational databases and MySQL.
• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services and APIs in Express and TypeScript.
• Contribute to Next.js and React applications with frontend engineers.
• Own significant components from data modelling to deployment on AWS.
• Use AI tools in design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
• Automate repetitive work with guardrails and human oversight.
• Define patterns for service structure, state management, and testing.
• Review and improve system design for performance and scalability.
