Job summary

Zendesk seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Engineering & Integration Shared Services team. You will design, build, test, and deploy integration solutions across Zendesk products and external SaaS systems, leveraging microservices and cloud-native patterns.

The role emphasizes API design, middleware, and event-driven architectures, with collaboration across architects, analysts, and developers in a fast-paced Agile Scrum environment. Hybrid work with global offices is supported.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend or integration engineering, designing and developing scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Proficient in Java; experience with Node.js or Python is a plus.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs, middleware, and event-driven microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and deploy standardized integration solutions across Zendesk products and third-party SaaS systems.
• Develop unit tests, perform system integration testing, and support UAT to ensure quality.
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups within a 2-week Agile Scrum sprint.
• Explore and implement AI/ML-driven automation to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers, IT owners, solution architects, and business analysts to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to sprint retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
