Job summary

Linear, a remote-first software company, seeks experienced AI engineers to build native AI features for our issue-tracking and project-management tool. You’ll deploy AI-powered workflows, design backend services, and help scale agent platforms.

You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver fast, private, and high-quality AI experiences. This role is remote within North America.

Qualifications

• Experience building AI systems deployed to production.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js backend environments.
• Familiarity with real-time data and scalable architectures.

We are now looking for experienced engineers that have built and deployed AI systems to production to help us design and build native AI features that elevate our core product. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to craft seamless AI-powered experiences, such as vector-powered search, proactive suggestions, and agentic systems. We care deeply about keeping Linear fast, intuitive, and opinionated—AI is no exception.

What you’ll do

• Build AI-powered product features that feel native, fast, and delightful to use

• Work with product and design to prototype and iterate on intelligent workflows and user interactions

• Design backend services to power natural language interfaces, smart suggestions, agentic workloads, and more

• Optimize prompts, fine-tune model behavior, and evaluate performance

• Help to guide our agent platform, allowing third parties to bring agents into the core Linear experience as teammates.

• Contribute to the architecture for AI-integration infrastructure that’s reliable and privacy-aware

• TypeScript and Node.js for backend services

• GraphQL APIs and WebSocket-based real-time sync

• Postgres, Redis, and Turbopuffer for storage and caching
