ORBIS seeks a Senior Software Engineer to support Navy surface combat systems through certification, accreditation, and cyber-security workflows. The role emphasizes Agile development, software baseline management, and integration across complex systems.

Candidates should have extensive experience in software engineering for defense programs, with emphasis on testing, certification, and shipboard fielding, plus the ability to work in dynamic, security-sensitive environments.

Qualifications

• Must satisfy one of three education/experience paths listed.
• Experience with Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software systems is required.
• Security clearance and U.S. citizenship are implied for defense work.

Responsibilities

• Support Navy certification, accreditation, and cybersecurity processes by developing and reviewing documentation for certifications and panels.
• Engage in agile development, software baseline management, and combat system integration tasks.
• Estimate resources and manage software configuration across development cycles.
• Oversee software engineering, testing, and certification processes including ECP development and shipboard fielding.
• Develop, deploy, and sustain web-based applications using commercially available software where applicable.
• Monitor unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing to ensure quality and compliance.

Job Description: Senior Software Engineer

• Support Navy Surface Ship Above Water Sensor and Laser Software Development Certification, Accreditation, and Cybersecurity processes, by developing and reviewing associated documentation for events such as Element Certification, Mission Readiness Assessments (MRA), Combat System Certifications, Software Systems Safety Review Panels (SSSTRP), and Weapons System Explosives Safety Review Boards (WSERB).
• Agile Software Development, Software Baseline Management, and Combat System integration
• Developer resource estimation and management and Software configuration management
• Software systems engineering, testing and certification processes
• SW ECP development, ship change processes, maintenance, and SW fielding
• Software metrics, analytics, tools, and processes
• Provide cyber engineering support tasks associated with requirements development, software implementation, integration, test, certification and sustainment of combat system elements.
• Provide support by designing, developing, deploying and sustaining web-based technical applications using COTS software.
• Monitor and evaluate all phases of software testing, including unit testing integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing.
• Provide technical expertise in managing, maintaining, and delivering cyber-secure surface Navy combat systems by integrating advanced virtualized testing environments.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Required
• A) High school degree, or a GED, and twenty (20) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience.
• OR
• B) Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and fifteen (15) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience.
• OR
• C) Master's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and ten (10) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience.
