Job summary

ORBIS Inc. in Washington, DC seeks a Senior Software Engineer to support Navy surface ship software certification, accreditation, and cybersecurity programs.

You will develop and review documentation for events such as Element Certification, Mission Readiness Assessments, Combat System Certifications, SSSTRP, and WSERB, while contributing to agile development and software baseline management. You will estimate development resources, manage software configuration, and participate in testing,

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED with 20 years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with 15 years relevant experience.
• Master's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with 10 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Support Navy certification, accreditation, and cybersecurity processes for events such as Element Certification, Mission Readiness Assessments, Combat System Certifications, SSSTRP, and WSERB.
• Engage in Agile Software Development, Software Baseline Management, and Combat System integration.
• Estimate resources and manage software configuration management.
• Oversee software systems engineering, testing and certification processes.
• Support SW ECP development, ship change processes, maintenance, and SW fielding.
• Develop, deploy, and sustain web-based technical applications using COTS software.
• Monitor and evaluate all phases of software testing: unit, integration, system, acceptance.
• Provide cyber engineering support to requirements development, implementation, test, certification and sustainment of combat system elements.

Job Description: Senior Software Engineer

• Support Navy Surface Ship Above Water Sensor and Laser Software Development Certification, Accreditation, and Cybersecurity processes, by developing and reviewing associated documentation for events such as Element Certification, Mission Readiness Assessments (MRA), Combat System Certifications, Software Systems Safety Review Panels (SSSTRP), and Weapons System Explosives Safety Review Boards (WSERB).
• Agile Software Development, Software Baseline Management, and Combat System integration
• Developer resource estimation and management and Software configuration management
• Software systems engineering, testing and certification processes
• SW ECP development, ship change processes, maintenance, and SW fielding
• Software metrics, analytics, tools, and processes
• Provide cyber engineering support tasks associated with requirements development, software implementation, integration, test, certification and sustainment of combat system elements.
• Provide support by designing, developing, deploying and sustaining web-based technical applications using COTS software.
• Monitor and evaluate all phases of software testing, including unit testing integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing.
• Provide technical expertise in managing, maintaining, and delivering cyber-secure surface Navy combat systems by integrating advanced virtualized testing environments.

Required Skills and Experience:

Required

• A)High school degree, or a GED, and twenty (20) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience,
• OR B)Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and fifteen (15) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience,
• OR C)Master's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and ten (10) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience.
