Job summary

Round-Peg Solutions (RPS) Limited is seeking a Senior GNC Software Engineer to translate guidance and control algorithms into flight-ready software for autonomous aerospace vehicles. You will own embedded C++ software across simulation, HIL and real flight hardware, collaborating with GNC, autonomy, systems and hardware teams.

Responsibilities include developing C++ GNC and flight software, implementing guidance/navigation/control algorithms in real-time, integrating PX4 or ArduPilot, sensors

Qualifications

• Strong C++ software engineering experience for embedded, real-time or flight-critical systems.

Are you a GNC Software Engineer who enjoys turning guidance and control algorithms into flight-ready software? Have you developed C++ software for UAVs, autonomous aircraft, missiles or other high-performance aerospace vehicles? This fast-growing defence technology organisation develops advanced autonomous aerospace systems for demanding, time-critical missions. Software engineers work directly alongside GNC, autonomy, systems, hardware and test teams, taking new capabilities from early development through integration and flight testing.

The Senior GNC Software Engineer will develop the embedded software responsible for guiding and controlling advanced autonomous air vehicles, combining strong software engineering with an understanding of flight dynamics and controls.

As the Senior GNC Software Engineer your responsibilities will include

• Developing C++ GNC and flight software for autonomous aircraft and advanced aerospace vehicles
• Implementing guidance, navigation and control algorithms within real-time embedded systems
• Developing and integrating software using PX4, ArduPilot or comparable flight-control frameworks
• Integrating flight software with sensors, avionics, communications and embedded hardware
• Taking software through SIL/HIL, system integration, flight testing and operational deployment

As the Senior GNC Software Engineer you will bring

• Strong C++ software engineering experience within embedded, real-time or flight-critical systems
• Experience developing GNC, flight controls, autonomy or vehicle software for dynamic systems
• Understanding of flight dynamics, guidance algorithms and control systems
• Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, embedded Linux or comparable flight-software environments
• Hands-on experience integrating and testing software with real sensors, avionics or flight hardware

Experience with UAVs, autonomous aircraft, missiles or other aerospace vehicles is particularly valuable, but the priority is someone who can turn GNC algorithms into robust, testable flight software.

The Senior GNC Software Engineer will remain close to both the code and the vehicle, seeing software progress from development environment to simulation, HIL and ultimately flight.
