Team Overview:

Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN’s digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

We seek a motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Commerce, Data, & Identity (CDI) Alliance, which manages customer flow and integrates backend services for Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu signups. The team supports critical, highly available tier-1 services worldwide and offers opportunities to influence technical direction and learn about global billing, payments, subscriptions, offers, and promotions as our streaming services expand internationally.

Our mission is to deliver Disney’s direct-to-consumer services globally, providing access to beloved characters, stories, and sporting events across all devices and locations. We aim to innovate continuously to enhance consumer access and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Manage tier-1 services serving hundreds of millions of users.
• Design technology solutions for initiatives impacting commerce and user experience.
• Enhance the commerce platform with new features and improvements.
• Conduct code and architecture reviews.
• Participate in Agile and SCRUM processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve business problems.
• Provide on-call support for critical services.
• Own features and deliver end-to-end projects with high quality and architecture robustness.

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience developing backend services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Proven impact in previous roles.
• Experience with backend server-side development for tier-1 services.
• Expertise in at least one JVM language.
• Experience with cloud providers.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to investigate technical components and own feature development.

The salary range varies by location: Morrisville, NC ($132,200 - $177,300), Los Angeles, CA ($138,900 - $186,200), Seattle, WA ($145,400 - $195,000), New York, NY ($145,400 - $195,000). Actual offers depend on various factors including region, experience, and skills. Compensation may include bonuses and incentives, along with comprehensive benefits.
