Software Engineer, Notifications Platform

Whatnot

At Whatnot, the Notifications Platform team manages all user notifications. Our platform allows teams to send relevant messages to both buyers and sellers, focusing on quality, utility, and business impact. We are a product platform team within the discovery organization. As an L5 engineer, you will:

1. Architect, build, and scale core platform components for notifications delivery, audience targeting, and improve developer experience and platform observability.
2. Collaborate effectively with PMs and other ICs to lead platform projects.
3. Mentor and elevate junior engineers on the team.

Team members in this role should be within commuting distance of our hubs in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, or New York.

As our next platform engineer, you have:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience building platforms and large-scale systems.
• A reputation for high-quality engineering designs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently.

Salary: $185,000 - $205,000/year + benefits + equity. The final salary depends on level, experience, skills, and expertise. This range covers base salary only; benefits and equity are additional.
