Candidates from companies or teams focused on operating systems, device software, XR/AR/VR platforms, gaming technology, game engines, runtime systems, embedded platforms, or mobile infrastructure will be especially relevant. Experience working directly on devices and platform software is preferred over purely server-side development.
Job Description
Must-Have Qualifications
- Extensive and proven professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Experience developing low-level or systems software
- Experience working on client-side/device-side applications rather than backend or server-side systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and automated testing frameworks
- Experience troubleshooting build failures, integration issues, and release stability concerns within large codebases
- Background in one or more of the following:
- Operating systems
- Device platforms
- Mobile applications
- Runtime systems
- Strong debugging, performance analysis, and root cause investigation skills
- Ability to work across multiple software layers and drive solutions end-to-end
Preferred Qualifications
- AR/VR or Mixed Reality experience
- OpenXR experience
- Unity development experience
- Experience with telemetry, logging, diagnostics, and observability systems
- Experience building developer platforms, SDKs, or tooling
- Experience improving developer workflows and release processes
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance low-level platform functionality using C++
- Contribute to OpenXR runtime development and standards compliance efforts
- Expand platform capabilities and close functionality gaps across XR devices
- Improve Unity integrations and developer workflows for XR application development
- Monitor and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, build failures, and integration issues across multiple devices
- Investigate and resolve stability, performance, and reliability issues in mainline builds
- Design and implement infrastructure improvements that reduce regressions and improve platform quality
- Enhance telemetry, logging, and diagnostics to improve issue detection and root cause analysis
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive end-to-end reliability and quality across the XR ecosystem
- Perform testing, validation, and preventative engineering to improve stability across current and future device platforms
