Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its NBS engineering team to build a brand-new Scholarship Granting Organization platform. You will work in a .NET stack with Angular, turning customer needs into scalable solutions and collaborating with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams.

You will mentor peers, embrace AI coding tools to streamline development, and contribute to a high-performing, flexible work environment. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience are expected.

OUR TEAM: We're launching a brand-new Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) engineering team, building a platform from the ground up to help our partners collect donations, evaluate families for scholarship eligibility, and distribute funds. If you want the chance to build a new product, drive technical direction, and work on a small team where your work is impactful, then this is that kind of role.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key component of our development team. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams to understand customer needs and turn them into technical solutions. We work in a .NET stack with Angular, but we value engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn over specific tech experience.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of related experience.

• Strong technical competency, with a logical, analytical, and creative approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and management on complex issues.

Annual compensation range for this role is $120,000- $150,000

This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates living within 30 miles of an office location to work remotely for part of the week, while also fostering collaboration and team connection through in-office presence three days per week.
