Base pay range

$75.00/hr - $85.00/hr

Senior Software Engineer – Studio Tech

Location: Glendale, CA (Hybrid on-site preferred 3x per week)

Initial 6 month contract on W2 with plans to extend or convert to FTE

We’re partnered with a leading media and entertainment company to hire a Senior Software Engineer for their internal screening platform. This team supports secure media review workflows for key stakeholders such as press and executives. As part of a modernization initiative, they’re consolidating backend tools and improving the platform’s scalability.

This role is ideal for someone who’s strongest in Node.js, but flexible enough to jump into Java and Spring Boot when needed. You’ll focus primarily on engineering execution — working through Jira tickets, building microservices, and contributing clean, scalable code within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services primarily using Node.js
• Support integration and development within a React-based ecosystem
• Write and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
• Assist in modernizing and consolidating two internal tools into one platform
• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to deliver high-quality, well-documented solutions
• Triage and fix backend bugs and performance issues
• Contribute to testing, code reviews, and service reliability efforts

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and modern backend practices
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Java, Spring Boot, and Kotlin
• Prior exposure to cloud-based systems (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Comfortable navigating Jira workflows and cross-functional projects
