Motion Recruitment Partners is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a Hybrid team in Detroit, MI, focusing on a scalable loan origination platform. You will work on fraud prevention, identity and bank/income verification, and client validation, delivering end-to-end features with Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, integration with third-party providers, and building reliable, secure systems handling sensitive data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
• True full-stack development experience across frontend and backend applications.
• Experience building and supporting production APIs, services, and microservices.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and external data providers.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and production support.
• Experience working with AWS and Docker.
• Experience securely handling PII, financial information, or other sensitive/regulated data.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, reliability, and technical tradeoffs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with Product and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support full-stack applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and NestJS.
• Develop systems supporting identity verification, fraud detection, bank verification, and income verification.
• Integrate with third-party fraud, risk, identity, and financial verification providers.
• Build and improve verification, re-verification, identity matching, and applicant decisioning workflows.
• Identify edge cases and potential fraud or abuse scenarios while minimizing friction for legitimate clients.
• Own technical initiatives from initial design through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Work with PostgreSQL, TypeORM, AWS, Docker, GitHub, and microservices.
• Monitor production systems and improve reliability, performance, conversion, and client experience.

Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and enhance a scalable platform supporting the personal loan origination process. In this role, you will work on systems responsible for fraud prevention, identity verification, bank and income verification, and client validation. You will build full-stack solutions, integrate with third-party risk and verification providers, and turn external data into reliable decisions while maintaining a seamless client experience. This is a hands‑on engineering role where you will own features end‑to‑end using Node.js, TypeScript, React, and modern cloud technologies, while working with highly sensitive personal and financial data.
