BioSensics, a biomedical engineering firm, is seeking a self-driven Software Engineer to join its fast-growing team in the Boston area. You will design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack solutions, owning features from backend APIs to frontend interfaces and observability.

You will work with TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java, or Go on a stack that includes React, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure. Strong testing, CI/CD, and security practices are essential in a collaborative Agile

Formación

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with at least one modern backend language (TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java, or Go) including concurrency and APIs.
• Proven design, build, and operation of scalable backend systems, APIs, caching, and data handling.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema design, optimization, and migrations.
• Experience with cloud/infrastructure, Docker, reliability, scaling and fault-tolerance.
• Solid React experience to deliver front-end and back-end features end-to-end.
• Observability, logging, metrics, incident follow-up, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).
• Security fundamentals: auth patterns, secrets management, data protection.
• Excellent communication in an Agile environment.

BioSensics is a biomedical engineering firm specializing in the collection of digital biomarkers and outcome assessment in healthcare. We build and deploy wearables, sensors, digital assessments, and an encapsulating platform to empower novel healthcare initiatives and important clinical trials.

We are looking for a self-driven, detail oriented, and motivated Software Engineer to join our fast-growing team. This is a multifaceted role requiring both creative and practical skills. Our Software Engineers manage the full stack. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to have a high impact on a fast paced, rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack software solutions.
• Take ownership of new features, driving their implementation across the codebase and collaborating with the engineering team.
• Organize and iterate on rapidly changing and complex requirements, working closely with the product and operations teams.
• Serve as a key contributor in all aspects of full-stack software development.

Desired Skills and Experience

• BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern backend language, such as TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java, or Go, including concurrency and async patterns, runtime performance, and building well-typed APIs. Our stack is TypeScript, so experience with it is a plus, but strong engineers from other ecosystems are welcome.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating scalable backend systems, including API design and versioning, caching strategies, background job processing, and handling high request volumes and large datasets.
• Strong relational database skills, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization and indexing, transaction management, and safe migrations on live production data.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization (Docker), and an understanding of how to design for reliability, horizontal scaling, and fault tolerance.
• Solid working experience with React, with the ability to deliver features end to end across the frontend and backend.
• Experience with observability and production ownership, including logging, metrics, alerting, debugging live issues, and leading incident follow-up.
• A strong testing practice across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels, along with experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) and working in Git.
• Sound security fundamentals, including authentication and authorization patterns, secrets management, and careful handling of sensitive data.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in an Agile environment.

Nice to Have Skills and Experience

• Experience in a medical device or other regulated product development setting.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Nordic Bluetooth SDKs, Expo SDK, Parse Platform SDKs, or realtime message queues.
• Previous experience mentoring interns or Junior Developers.
• Knowledge or interest in Go.
