Job summary

Rokt is hiring Senior Software Engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable services behind its ecommerce platform. You will work across core platform teams to support billions of transactions yearly, with emphasis on performance, reliability, and observability.

Responsibilities include leading architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to align with business objectives. Hybrid in-office schedule with some remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial software development, designing, building, and operating distributed systems in Go, Scala, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
• Experience taking code to production and operating it.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation/orchestration tools.

We're Looking for Senior Software Engineers

We are recruiting Senior Software Engineering roles across Rokt’s core platform teams. These roles design, build, and maintain the scalable services behind Rokt's ecommerce platform, which powers over 10 billion transactions a year.

Compensation

Target total compensation ranges from $335k - $400k, comprised of a fixed annual salary of $210k - $260k, plus employee equity plan grant. In addition, you will receive world-class employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve scalable services dealing with ultra high-throughput.
• Write high quality, maintainable code in languages like Go, Scala, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct incident root cause analysis, optimise performance, and maintain scalable solutions under real traffic.
• Drive performance optimisations and refactors that improve system reliability, latency, and cost.
• Own architectural decisions and contribute to system design reviews.
• Research and leverage AI tooling, LLMs, and agents to automate manual processes, accelerate learning, and lift developer productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and set technical direction on scalability and observability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering delivery with business objectives.
• Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, owning and operating with autonomy.
• Participate in on‑call rotation: Rokt engineering teams own their systems end to end, including building, running, monitoring, and break‑fix.

Qualifications

• Relevant bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and 4+ years in commercial software development, designing, building, and operating distributed systems in modern languages like C#, Go, Java, Scala, or TypeScript.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability across troubleshooting, performance, and scale.
• Experience taking your own code to production and operating it.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Willingness to work 4 day in‑office, 1 day remote weekly schedule.

Additional Experience

• High‑throughput, low‑latency distributed systems. Designing and operating internet‑scale backend services and APIs, with versioning, performance, scalability, and reliability treated as first‑order concerns.
• Data engineering. Building and scaling ingestion and storage on open‑source foundations like Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, Iceberg, and Trino. Owning data systems that stay correct and queryable as volume grows by orders of magnitude.
• MLOps. Building the infrastructure that lets ML move from notebook to production: feature and data access at scale, model management & training, deployment, and the tooling ML Applied Scientists depend on to ship and iterate.
• Site Reliability Engineering. Owning the operational surface of high‑traffic systems: observability, anomaly detection, incident response, and automations that keep on‑call sustainable as the network grows.
• Web & Mobile front‑end & SDKs. Building and refining Rokt's Web and Mobile Software Development Kits for performance, security, and seamless integration across thousands of partner environments.
