Job summary

Liberty University seeks a Software Developer III to join the SIS IT Development team. You will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software supporting the Student Information System and Identity Management services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
• 5+ years of software development experience, with a strong portfolio of completed projects, is required.
• Technical Leadership: Ability to guide architectural decisions and lead technical discussions within the team.
• Full Stack Proficiency: Deep understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular) and back-end technologies (e.g., databases, Java, Node.js, PHP, Spring).
• System Design: Strong skills in designing scalable and maintainable systems and understanding design patterns.
• Advanced Testing Skills: Proficiency in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• DevOps Familiarity: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control practices, as well as knowledge of deployment strategies.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient code and participate in code reviews to ensure quality standards are maintained and development skills are honed.
• Analyze code and identify bugs, using logical reasoning to resolve issues. Ability to seek guidance and feedback as needed.
• Consistently deliver code on schedule and adhere to established processes.
• Handle a mixture of technical challenges, efficiently balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Establish and enforce coding standards and conduct regular code reviews to maintain high quality.
• Facilitate team collaboration by leading technical discussions and effectively creating consensus and clarity while resolving differing viewpoints among more junior developers.
• Apply analytical thinking early in the project cycle to guide intentional software design and user experience decisions.
• Provide support to junior developers on technical challenges as needed, mentor them, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Proactively explore new and innovative solutions to enhance existing features and improve user experience.
