Job summary

American Airlines is seeking an experienced software engineer to join our Digital Platforms team in Fort Worth. You will develop, test, and maintain large-scale solutions that support our global operations and travel experience.

You will contribute across the full stack with Java, Python, C#, and frontend frameworks, while applying Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud tooling to deliver scalable, reliable software. Collaboration across teams and security-first design are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 9+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Writes, tests, and documents technical work products (code, scripts, processes) according to standards.
• Solves technical problems and builds components with wide impact.
• Delivers high quality work and mentors junior engineers.
• Conducts root cause analysis and leads action items to address issues.
• Designs integrated systems enabling multi-team delivery with speed and reliability.
• Oversees technical debt management and elimination opportunities.
• Anticipates scaling, latency, and durability challenges with mitigation strategies.
• Partners with security to embed security practices early in lifecycle.
• Evaluates technical risks and guides preventive strategies.
• Reflects on squad delivery practices and drives improvements.
• Identifies opportunities for reuse and reduces duplication across teams.
• Explores emerging technologies and prototypes them for architectural use.
