Job summary

Mastercard Inc. in O’Fallon, MO is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design scalable enterprise-grade solutions and lead architecture reviews.

You will collaborate with product, technology, and security teams, mentor engineers, and drive implementation of Java-based services and microservices in cloud environments. Responsibilities include delivering secure, high-performance software aligned with Mastercard standards, modernizing architectures, and contributing to guided engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in IT/CS or related field.
• Extensive software development experience delivering enterprise-grade solutions.
• Strong knowledge of card ecosystem domains (Loyalty, Clearing, Fraud, Disputes, Issuer, Acquirer & Merchant).
• Expertise in software architecture, design, and development with Agile/SAFe practices.
• Proficiency in Java-based systems, Spring, RESTful services, API design, and cloud tech (Azure/AWS).
• Experience with big data platforms and data governance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand product requirements and lead system design.
• Design architecture aligned with Mastercard standards and present to architecture board.
• Develop and support scalable, secure applications meeting roadmap and budgets.
• Deliver high-quality software with emphasis on security and performance.
• Create documentation for systems and testing per standards.
• Mentor team members to foster engineering leadership.
