Job summary

IBM is seeking a Senior Software Developer/Architect to contribute to the Connect Platform Team at Confluent. The role focuses on designing, building, and operating connectors that bridge Apache Kafka with external systems, for both on-prem and cloud deployments.

You will lead and mentor engineers, shape the roadmap for a Data Streaming Platform, and leverage Java, Kubernetes, and cloud services to deliver low-latency, highly available data pipelines across diverse environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Leading delivery of large-scale, secure, highly available, low latency systems.
• Leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Deep hands-on expertise in hyper-scale distributed systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Work with distributed systems, cloud-native development, and secure, scalable data integration.
• Architect a complex engineering system from end to end.
• Partner across engineering to create and execute the roadmap for a Data Streaming Platform.
• Evaluate and enhance the platform's technology stack with industry-leading solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to the team in specialized areas.
• Improve stability, performance, and scalability across critical systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers.
