Kratos Defense and Security Solutions in Crane, IN seeks a Principal Software Architect to lead the technical vision, architecture, development, integration, test, release and sustainment of software for the AN/SPY-1 program.

This senior leader translates complex requirements into secure, scalable software and guides multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle in regulated, mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of progressive experience in software engineering, software architecture, systems integration, or technical leadership.
• Experience delivering for complex, mission-critical, regulated systems.
• Experience architecting and integrating enterprise applications using APIs, modular services, containers, and modern practices.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the technical architecture, software standards, development roadmap, and governance for SPY-1 software capabilities.
• Lead design, development, modernization, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of SPY-1 test set software and related applications.
• Architect and deliver AI-enabled tools to improve troubleshooting, documentation, engineering analysis, and user effectiveness.
• Lead integration among AN/SPY-1 software, test equipment, enterprise platforms, data sources, and DoD/customer systems.
• Establish software configuration management, version control, release readiness criteria, automated testing, and deployment processes.
• Partner with systems engineers, cybersecurity, test engineers, and program leadership to align solutions with operational needs.
• Oversee verification/validation activities, defect triage, root-cause analysis, performance evaluation, and acceptance support.
• Ensure solutions meet cybersecurity, IA, data management, and hosting requirements.
• Develop technical documentation, architecture artifacts, interface control docs, and operational materials.
• Assess emerging technologies and adopt AI, data platforms, and tooling to strengthen readiness and sustainment.
