Job description

JOVA is looking for a highly creative, social-native Social Content Manager to help grow our brand through short-form content that feels current, culturally relevant, and made for the way people actually use social media.

This is a hands-on role for someone who spends significant time inside TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, creator communities, and emerging social spaces—and understands not only what is trending, but why people stop, watch, share, comment, and come back.

You will be responsible for turning brand priorities, product benefits, audience insights, trends, and cultural moments into short-form content people genuinely want to watch. You should be equally comfortable developing a content strategy, writing a strong hook, filming a quick concept, editing a rough cut, directing a creator, and using data to decide what we should make next.

This is not a traditional content-planning role. We are looking for a hands-on content maker and creative thinker who can move quickly, experiment continuously, and help JOVA become part of the social conversation around parenting, childhood and play.

What You’ll Own
Create Social-First Short-Form Content
  • Develop original TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts concepts designed specifically for each platform.
  • Write strong hooks, scripts, captions, on-screen text, and calls to action in natural, culturally fluent U.S. English.
  • Film and edit fast-turnaround content independently when needed, including product demonstrations, reactions, trend adaptations, parent-relevant moments, interviews, and lo-fi social content.
  • Be comfortable appearing in content when a concept requires it, while also knowing how to create effectively from behind the camera.
  • Turn ordinary products and everyday play moments into entertaining, useful, emotional, or highly shareable stories.
  • Ensure content feels native to the platform—not like a traditional advertisement adapted for social media.
Direct Creators and Internal Production
  • Turn content insights into clear, practical briefs for creators, influencers, designers, editors, and internal production teams.
  • Provide specific direction on hooks, scenarios, delivery, framing, pacing, editing, and product integration.
  • Review scripts, storyboards, footage, and rough cuts and give actionable feedback that improves watchability and performance.
  • Help creators understand what is working, what should be remade, and which new angles should be tested.
  • Translate winning creator concepts into content for JOVA’s own social channels and vice versa.
Stay Close to Social Culture
  • Actively monitor TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, creators, parenting conversations, entertainment, memes, emerging formats, and wider U.S. cultural moments.
  • Identify relevant trends early and quickly determine whether JOVA should participate, adapt the idea, or move on.
  • Understand the language, humor, visual codes, editing styles, and behaviors shaping current social culture.
  • Bring proactive content ideas to the team rather than waiting for campaign briefs or instructions.
  • Translate trends into brand-relevant ideas without making JOVA feel forced, late, or disconnected from the original context.
  • Maintain strong cultural judgment and ensure content involving children and families remains appropriate, respectful, and brand-safe.
Partner on Content Planning and the Social Calendar
  • Work closely with the Social Media Specialist to translate brand priorities, product launches, seasonal moments, cultural opportunities, and performance insights into a strong social content plan.
  • Propose the concepts, formats, creative angles, and content series that should feed into the social calendar.
  • Ensure there is a healthy mix of entertaining, parent-relevant, trend-driven, product, community, and brand-building content.
  • Maintain a clear pipeline of concepts and assets so the Social Media Specialist can plan and publish consistently.
  • Respond quickly to emerging trends and work with the Social Media Specialist to adjust planned content when timely opportunities arise.
  • Coordinate closely on what should be published, tested, iterated, or deprioritized based on audience response and platform performance.
Build Repeatable Content Formats
  • Develop recurring social series and recognizable formats that can build audience familiarity and long-term growth.
  • Study high-performing content from JOVA, creators, competitors, and adjacent categories to identify repeatable patterns.
  • Break down what makes content work, including the opening frame, hook, pacing, tension, payoff, editing, personality, comment triggers, and product integration.
  • Distinguish between one-off trends and scalable content concepts that can be recreated across products, creators, and channels.
  • Quickly develop new hooks, angles, and versions when a concept shows potential.
Learn From Performance
  • Review content performance weekly and translate the results into clear creative decisions.
  • Track metrics such as views, opening retention, average watch time, completion rate, shares, saves, comments, profile visits, follower growth, and content efficiency.
  • Identify winning hooks, structures, topics, products, creator styles, and audience tensions.
  • Recommend which concepts should be scaled, iterated, remade, or stopped.
  • Build a simple learning system so each round of content becomes stronger than the previous one.
  • Use performance evidence without allowing data to replace creative instinct and experimentation.
Build the JOVA Brand Through Content
  • Express JOVA’s belief in joyful, pressure-free play through content that feels human, contemporary, and relatable.
  • Create stories that connect with the real experiences, tensions, humor, and emotions of modern parents.
  • Make products part of an engaging story rather than simply showing features.
  • Help develop a recognizable JOVA social voice and content style that parents trust and children enjoy.
  • Balance short-term reach and engagement with long-term brand recognition and relevance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant experience in social content, short-form video, creator content, social media, or digital storytelling. Exceptional hands-on portfolios may outweigh years of experience.
  • Experience with toys, parenting, family, lifestyle, entertainment, consumer brands.
  • Proven experience creating content for the U.S. market.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating short-form content you personally created, scripted, edited, directed, or significantly shaped.
  • Deep familiarity with TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, creators, memes, platform behaviors, and evolving social formats.
  • Strong instinct for what makes people stop scrolling and continue watching.
  • Excellent U.S. English, particularly for conversational hooks, scripts, captions, comments, and creator direction.
  • Strong understanding of hooks, opening frames, pacing, retention, storytelling, visual payoff, and platform-native editing.
  • Hands-on ability to film and edit short-form content using tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to recognize emerging cultural and content patterns before they become oversaturated.
  • Comfortable testing imperfect ideas quickly, learning from the results, and improving them.
  • Able to explain clearly why a video worked, why it failed, and what should be tested next.
  • Proactive, curious, fast-moving, and highly engaged with social culture.
  • Comfortable balancing creativity, brand consistency, child-appropriate content, and commercial objectives.
  • Experience collaborating with creators, designers, editors, influencers, or production teams.
What Success Looks Like
  • JOVA consistently publishes content that feels current, platform-native, and relevant to U.S. parents.
  • The team identifies and responds to social opportunities more quickly.
  • Strong concepts are tested through multiple hooks, edits, creators, and product angles.
  • JOVA develops recognizable recurring formats rather than relying only on isolated campaign posts.
  • Watch time, retention, shares, engagement, and follower growth improve over time.
  • Performance insights lead directly to better creative decisions.
  • Creators and production partners receive clearer, more actionable direction.
  • JOVA’s social channels develop a distinctive voice and become a repeatable content engine for brand and product growth.
