Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside seeks a Lead Sleep Technologist to oversee comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in-center and home sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and patient education.

The role requires ensuring quality data collection, calibration of equipment, and accurate scoring of sleep stages and events per AASM standards, with focus on patient safety and protocol adherence.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or the equivalent.
• Associate or higher degree program in polysomnographic technology.
• 5 years minimum experience as a Polysomnographic Technician or Technologist.
• Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist licensed in New York State in good standing
• Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
• Current CPR or BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify testing needs.
• Determine final testing parameters/procedures with ordering physician or clinical director and lab protocols.
• Review patient history and verify medical orders; follow sleep center protocols.
• Explain procedures and orient the patient for in-center or out-of-center testing.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to standards; calibrate equipment for testing.
• Perform routine PAP interface fitting and desensitization.
• Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events using AASM standards.
• Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and event data.

Education

Associate or higher degree program in polysomnographic technology

Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist in New York

Current CPR or BLS certification
