Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking an experienced Sr Polysomnographic Technologist to perform advanced polysomnography, score sleep studies, and prepare preliminary reports for physician interpretation. The role includes mentoring staff, teaching in-services, and participating in quality initiatives while maintaining BRPT/AASM standards for patient safety.

The position requires leadership in complex sleep procedures, independent work, and strong communication with physicians and patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section
• Three years experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist in a Sleep Disorders laboratory/center
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and must have one of the following certifications: RPSGT or RRT-SDS

Responsibilities

• Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team focused work unit.
• Guides and mentors other Polysomnographic Technologists and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Facilitates open, professional communication to achieve mutual understanding and problem resolution.
• Serves as the primary person for performing all procedures related to sleep studies including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Scores sleep studies and prepares preliminary reports for physician interpretation.
