Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our eCommerce platform and infrastructure. You will partner with cross-functional teams to improve stability, automate tasks, and enhance service delivery.

Based in Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL, you will participate in on-call rotations, design scalable monitoring, and collaborate with developers to fix bottlenecks while meeting security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of site reliability engineering, DevOps, or related field.
• Strong experience with node / next.js solutions and AWS.
• Experience with IaC (CloudFormation, Terraform) and CI/CD (GitHub, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and troubleshoot production and QA systems to identify and resolve issues.
• Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 incident support.
• Design and maintain automated deployment and release processes.
• Collaborate to define operational processes, best practices, and procedures.
• Implement and maintain system monitoring tools and dashboards.
• Work with developers to fix bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously evaluate systems and drive improvements.
