Job summary

Perplexity in New York is seeking a senior Site Reliability Engineer to own production at scale across Kubernetes, AWS, and storage for our consumer, computer, API, and enterprise products.

You will operate and upgrade EKS clusters, design reliable network and storage layers, implement Terraform-based infrastructure, lead incident response, and drive disaster-recovery drills. Proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust and strong observability skills are required.

Qualifications

• Deep AWS expertise with hands-on experience in VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, S3, and networking.
• Production Kubernetes at scale: upgrades, autoscalers, and debugging at 3 a.m.
• Terraform mastery across many accounts with guarded state and refactors.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing.
• Real code writing in Python, Go, or Rust for automation and tooling.
• Fluency with observability tools and turning metrics into actionable alerts.
• Proven track record leading production incidents and durable fixes.

Responsibilities

• Own production at scale: compute, networking, and storage foundation.
• Run Kubernetes fleet: manage EKS clusters, autoscaling, DNS, and service networking.
• Engineer network architectures and cross-region connectivity.
• Manage durable storage including backups and restores.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead incident response and postmortems.
• Plan capacity and cost efficiency for launches.
• Automate toil with self-serve tooling.
