Job summary

NVIDIA's Global Circuits team seeks a Senior Thermal Mechanical Photonic Designer to advance thermal and structural design for silicon photonic ICs used in GPUs and related systems. You will conduct stress analysis, thermal validation, and die-package modelling, with hands-on lab experience in silicon evaluation and laser components.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years of related work.
• 3+ years of silicon photonics IC development from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience in optics or photonic systems product development.
• Hands-on silicon photonics product experience.
• Proficient in Ansys tools.
• Cross-functional collaboration experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-motivated with minimum supervision.
• Experience defining system performance and specs.

Responsibilities

• Design thermal and structural aspects of silicon photonic designs.
• Run stress simulations in optical components and fiber alignment.
• Set up experimental methodology for thermal validation and laser performance.
• Model die-package thermo-mechanical interactions.
• Support opto-mechanical system design with leads.
• Predict failures in electronics packaging during tests.
• Assess hygroscopic stresses and crack propagation.
• Simulate wire-bonding and wire fusing processes.
• Craft thermal specification datasheets per JEDEC standards.
• Solder joint fatigue and creep modeling.
