Job summary

CSX Corporation in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Signal Technician/Specialist to oversee safety and the automatic classification of freight cars. You will direct planning, budgeting, and implementation of computer resources for line of road operations and lead Electronic Specialists and Signalmen to ensure safe operations.

You will coach staff, conduct FRA and rules classes, review records, and develop training programs while ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations and CSX signal rules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the duties of a Signal Technician/Specialist.
• Knowledge of signal systems, mainframes, PCs, fiber optics, and related theory.
• Ability to read circuit drawings and equipment specifications; follow safe procedures.
• Must have computer applications and programming skills.
• Understanding labor agreements covering local personnel.
• Ability to interpret Federal and State regulations on signals.

Responsibilities

• Manage for constant improvement in the safety of all signal personnel and equipment.
• Conduct safety, FRA, and operating rules classes.
• Coach, teach, and train employees.
• Perform safety observations and tests on rules compliance.
• Manage/schedule all signal manpower and equipment.
• Ensure mainline territory is compliant with regulations and CSX rules.
• Review computer-based records.
• Develop/present technical training programs to educate local workforce.
• Ensure non-compliant CSX assets are corrected by remedial action.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager.
• Approves and handles all material needs for area of responsibility.
