Job summary

CSX Corporation in Nashville seeks an experienced supervisor to oversee inspections and repairs of rail cars and locomotives at a Mechanical terminal and on the line of road, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance.

You will lead safety and quality initiatives, coach union staff, forecast staffing, and drive continuous improvement while aligning with CSX safety rules and leadership model. The role requires rotating shifts, weekend work, and adaptation to all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 7+ years of supervisory experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or related fields.
• Experience supervising unionized workforces is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute and communicate the safety plan for the department, shop, and safety committees.
• Facilitate safety briefings to promote safe practices and procedures.
• Conduct safety observations and tests to ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify and communicate hazards and safety issues for resolution.
• Manage car inspection, yard, and line-of-road activities to meet standards.
• Coach, develop, and train team members.
• Delegate and monitor daily shop and yard strategies.
• Forecast staffing and material needs to meet objectives.
