Job summary

City of Portland's PBOT is seeking a Sidewalk Repair Project Coordinator to oversee contracted sidewalk repair projects from assignment through completion. You will coordinate with property owners, inspectors, and contractors to ensure work meets city standards and accessibility requirements.

The role emphasizes project management, contract administration, and accurate cost assessment, with emphasis on safety and on-schedule delivery. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of public works construction practices related to sidewalks, pavement repair, or transportation infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, quantity verification, and cost documentation.
  • Experience interpreting engineering plans, construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience exercising independent judgment and making sound decisions regarding project delivery, contractor performance, and public safety.
  • Ability to review contractor invoices, verify completed work, and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Ability to monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and project standards.
  • Valid state drivers license.
  • Experience performing professional work related to sidewalk or pavement repair, public works inspections, construction management, contract administration, or closely related infrastructure programs

Responsibilities

  • Manage contracted sidewalk repair projects from assignment through project completion.
  • Coordinate sidewalk repairs initiated through property owner requests and enforcement actions.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and contractor performance.
  • Independently assign work among multiple contractors using equitable, transparent practices while considering capacity and performance.
  • Review contractor invoices, verify field measurements, and determine final assessable costs.
  • Prepare and submit assessment information to the City's Revenue Division and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Monitor contract compliance and ensure work meets approved plans, City specifications, and program requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities with Public Works Inspectors responsible for field inspections and quality assurance.
  • Review completed sidewalk repairs for ADA accessibility standards and City Standard Construction Specifications.
  • Communicate with contractors, property owners, engineers, inspectors, and other City staff to resolve project issues and provide excellent customer service.
  • Support contract administration, procurement activities, and continuous program improvement.
