Job summary

Continental Tide Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Shipfitter III for our Norfolk, VA office. The role involves ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team projects, with emphasis on structural fitting, blueprint reading, and fabrication in a shipyard setting.

Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of mechanical systems, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. US security clearance or access requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or vocational training preferred.
• Experience with shipyard fabrication and structural assembly preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical specs; familiarity with NAVSEA standards a plus.
• Candidate must pass physical, background check, and security clearance as applicable.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, modify, lay out, fabricate, repair, and install plates and pipes as part of structural assemblies.
• Lay out and fit structural metal parts per blueprints and specs.
• Fabricate and assemble parts using welding equipment, torches, grinders, and cutting tools.
• Interpret drawings and specs to guide fabrication and installation.
• Perform tack welding and assist certified welders; ensure welds meet specs and safety standards.
• Inspect completed assemblies for conformance to specs and environmental safety.
