Job summary

Hayward Animal Services Bureau seeks a Shelter Operations Supervisor to oversee all staff and daily operations, including front office, kennel, volunteers, and field personnel. Duties include training, policy implementation, scheduling, and ensuring humane care.

You will coordinate with veterinarians, manage adoptions and redemptions, maintain records, monitor supplies, and supervise front office and field staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising Animal Services staff or equivalent.
• Ability to develop and implement procedures and training programs.
• Strong record keeping and reporting skills.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with public and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Animal Services Bureau personnel in completing duties.
• Develops, implements and maintains procedural manuals and training programs.
• Supervises training and performance of staff; conducts evaluations.
• Assists in hiring and scheduling; resolves staff conflicts.
• Coordinates with veterinarians and external partners; maintains treatment records.
• Oversees adoption and redemption processes; responds to public inquiries.
• Directs or participates in euthanasia procedures as required.
• Maintains inventory and supervises supplies for kennel and field operations.
