Job summary

The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) in Chicago seeks a Service Technician II to respond promptly to service requests, handle apartment turnover prep and maintain the property with strong trades skills.

This role requires independence and a customer-service focus to support a positive team dynamic. The position covers interior, exterior, and site grounds work, including preventive maintenance, repairs to appliances, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and duties for REAC/HQS readiness.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade school or 3 years of progressive responsibility in property management or hospitality preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of advanced hands-on repair experience in two or more building trades.
• REAC/HQS experience preferred; certifications/certificates (NAHMS, CAMT, OSHA, HVAC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, hardware, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Respond to service requests and on-call emergencies in a timely, professional manner.
• Monitor preventive maintenance for building systems, equipment, and components.
• Prepare repairs for vacant apartments to ready them for new move-ins.
• Maintain grounds and common spaces, including cleaning, trash, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Support REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
