Senior Field Service Engineer – Propulsion

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Field Service Engineer – Propulsion, you will perform field service activities related to propulsion equipment, including installation, repair, and maintenance of gearboxes, OD boxes, clutches, couplings, shafting, bearings, seals, controllable pitch propellers, thrusters, and waterjets.

This position reports to the Field Service Resources Coordinator.

Candidates are expected to display high critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, and be self-motivated.

Accountabilities

• Perform complex troubleshooting on Wärtsilä systems.
• Act as a Senior Engineer for marine installations and assist with commissioning activities.
• Lead and manage on-site work, interacting with customers to meet scope and schedule.
• Provide detailed work reports, including measurements, photos, and investigations.
• Manage time and spare parts inventory.
• Promote Wärtsilä products and solutions to customers.
• Perform site audits and report according to Wärtsilä standards.
• Undertake additional duties as needed due to changing circumstances.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with customers.
• Track progress and create Service Work Reports.
• Ensure work follows Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.
• Follow-up on work orders and report status.
• Seek solutions and best practices.

Requirements

• Safety-first mindset.
• MSc or BSc in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with marine propulsion systems.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of maintenance procedures, workshop maintenance, tools, and inspection.
• Hydraulic, lifting tools handling knowledge.
• Electrical and automation knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
