Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Server/Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and support enterprise server and cloud infrastructure for a federal civilian customer undergoing data center consolidation and cloud modernization. The role is remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in server and/or cloud engineering roles.
• Expert-level administration of Windows Server and Linux in an enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience migrating workloads to AWS GovCloud (preferred).
• Enterprise-scale VMware virtualization (vSphere/vCenter) experience.
• Experience with containers/Kubernetes, FinOps/cost-optimization, and Zero Trust principals.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and administer Windows Server and Linux systems in enterprise environments.
• Lead migration of on-premises workloads to AWS GovCloud as part of data center exit initiative.
• Administer VMware vSphere/vCenter environments, including capacity planning, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and configuration management (Ansible).
• Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity/access management in hybrid setups.
• Collaborate with security to remediate vulnerabilities and support monitoring and hardening baselines.
• Contribute to BDCR planning and testing; produce runbooks and architecture diagrams.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support and participate in on-call rotation.
