Senior - Senior Staff Electrical Engineer - Fremont, CA - Robotics Start-Up
About us

We're a well-funded automation robotics startup building robots that take on real work in the real world. We're a small, fast-moving team of engineers who like hard problems and shipping hardware, and we're looking for an electrical engineer to help shape our next generation of products.

The Role

You’ll own the electrical design of our robotic systems, from concept through production. You’ll work across disciplines with mechanical, firmware, controls and software teams. At the Staff level, you’ll also set technical direction, mentor other engineers and influence architecture across programmes.

What you’ll do
  • Design and own electrical systems for robotic platforms, covering areas such as power, actuation, sensing and compute
  • Develop schematics and PCB layouts, and take designs from concept through prototype to production
  • Bring up, test and debug hardware, and drive root-cause analysis when things go wrong
  • Collaborate with firmware, controls and software engineers on system integration
  • Lead design reviews and define test and validation approaches
  • Support compliance and certification activities as products mature
  • Mentor other engineers and help raise the engineering bar across the team
What we’re looking for

We care more about depth in electrical engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping than about any one tool or technology. You don’t need to tick every box below.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience designing electronics for shipped products (8+ for Senior Staff)
  • Strong PCB design experience, using any major toolchain
  • Solid foundations across analogue, digital and power electronics
  • Comfortable in the lab with prototype bring-up and debugging
  • Experience taking hardware from prototype through to production
Desirable (any of the following)
  • Motor drives, actuation or battery systems
  • Sensors, embedded compute or communication buses
  • Safety, EMC or regulatory compliance
  • Scripting or firmware skills for test and automation
  • Leading technical projects or mentoring engineers
