Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead project teams on sediment remediation projects for federal and public sector clients.

The role emphasizes independent work, client communication, and coordination with engineers and scientists to deliver technically sound designs while adhering to CERCLA, GLLA, and related regulatory processes. Domestic/international travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in evaluating sediment remediation technologies and preparing sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings.
  • Understand the scientific and engineering principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and/or remedial action construction.
  • Provide support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
  • Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on various components of complicated sediments sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and coordinating with subject matter experts.
  • Lead other staff in preparing/reviewing/scrutinizing technical information to ensure documents are technically sound and compliant with regulations.
