Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects for federal and public clients. The role emphasizes independent work and team leadership on sediment remediation designs, analysis, and construction oversight.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, 7 years of related experience, proficiency in regulatory frameworks (CERCLA/GLLA), strong communication skills, and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience.
• Experience leading engineers/scientists on sediment remediation projects.
• Knowledge of CERCLA / GLLA or regulatory processes at sediment sites.
• Strong communication and ability to present technical info to non-experts.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian, and port sites with multiple stakeholders.
• Understand sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial design & construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical analyses of environmental data.
• Act as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment project components and communicate technical strategy to clients.
• Serve as liaison with client, public and outside consultants; lead staff to produce technically sound documents.
