Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer - Security to architect, implement, and sustain enterprise-grade security across complex IT environments. This hands-on role leads security programs, mentors engineers, and drives innovation in security tooling and practices.

Responsibilities include defining security controls, overseeing patch management, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed security throughout lifecycles. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing, engineering, and securing enterprise IT systems.
• Senior-level architecting, deploying, and maintaining security infrastructure.
• Lead security engineering initiatives, patch/update strategies for Linux/Windows.
• Hands-on with Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, Tenable and related tools.
• Knowledge of NIST RMF, 800-53, STIGs and related standards.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and remediation across enterprise systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability growth.
• Active IAT certifications and vendor certifications required or pending within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain enterprise security controls across Windows, Linux, and virtualized environments.
• Lead design and deployment of endpoint hardening and security tools (Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, Tenable).
• Oversee patch management for OS and third-party software.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for security issues.
• Evaluate and adopt new security tools and methodologies.
• Develop security documentation (SSPs, RMF artifacts, diagrams).
• Guide incident response activities and containment strategies.
• Mentor security engineers and drive team capability development.
