Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Software Security Engineer for Starlink in Palo Alto to design and implement security across the Starlink stack, from cryptographic services to secure boot and incident response.

You will work with cross-functional teams to identify risks, prioritize mitigations, and ship reliable security features for a global satellite internet system. The role requires 5+ years in security software development or 7+ years without a degree, plus hands-on experience with Python, C++, or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or STEM with 5+ years in security software development; or 7+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with one or more programming languages (Python, C++, Go).
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for OS, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build security infrastructure for Starlink, including cryptographic services and security-critical components.
• Develop security features for Starlink systems, including routers, dishes, gateways, and satellites.
• Design security into factory processes and provide network services in support of this.
• Maintain existing production systems and improve security posture through implementation and guidance to other teams.
• Build prototypes and test security improvements across platforms.
• Advance Starlink’s mission to provide secure, reliable Internet globally.
