Job Description

Supervises Security personnel on assigned shifts to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. In the absence of the Safety/Security Manager, functions on assigned shift as the primary contact for on-duty supervisors, law enforcement agencies, and other staff for immediate response to situations requiring Safety and Security staff attention.

1. Conducts physical inspections and security checks of grounds and facilities, documenting results.
2. Performs safety/security officer duties and supervises staff to protect life and property against theft, vandalism, misappropriation, fire, flood, or disasters, complying with relevant directives.
3. Informs the Safety/Security Manager and Center Director or designee of incidents requiring immediate attention, including major emergencies and important visitors.
4. Investigates incidents and provides accurate reports.
5. Controls disturbances and assists staff in de-escalating situations.
6. Ensures students' civil rights are upheld.
7. Transports students as assigned.
8. Picks up and delivers materials as directed.
9. Performs routine vehicle inspections and reports repair needs.
10. Completes security logs, documentation, and records accurately and timely.
11. Maintains vehicle, transportation logs, and student accountability records.
12. Logs entries and exits of employees, visitors, vendors, and students accurately.
13. Searches students and others entering the center for contraband as required.
14. Supervises students in isolation when necessary.
15. Communicates and models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
16. Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
17. Adheres to safety practices at all times.
18. Creates a safe and respectful environment free from harassment and intimidation.
19. Attends all required staff training sessions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One-year related experience.
• Experience working with youth.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
