Job summary

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago seeks a Senior Manager, Information Security Engineering to lead the design, engineering, and lifecycle management of technical security controls across the Bank’s environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, IT, or engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive security engineering or leadership experience.
• Experience leading blended teams of employees and contractors.
• Hands-on or leadership experience in AWS and Azure security.
• Experience mapping security capabilities to NIST CSF and regulatory requirements.
• Strong security metrics, dashboards, and governance experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering of security controls across on‑prem and cloud platforms.
• Manage a blended team of employees and contractors, set priorities, and ensure scalable solutions.
• Align security tooling and roadmaps to NIST CSF, policy, risk appetite, and standards.
• Build defense-in-depth across AWS, Azure, SaaS, endpoints, networks, and data platforms.
• Translate risk and policy into practical controls, automation, and guardrails.
• Develop security talent through clear accountability and mentoring.
• Drive regulatory readiness and risk reduction through automation and governance.
• Own security engineering strategy, roadmap, backlog, budget, and vendor relationships.
• Provide leadership across security technologies including encryption, IAM, and monitoring.
• Establish standards for tool selection, configuration, and lifecycle management.
