Job summary

FHLBank Chicago is seeking a Senior Manager, Information Security Engineering to lead the design, engineering, and lifecycle management of technical security controls across on-premises, cloud, and data platforms.

You will manage a blended team of employees and contractors, setting priorities and standards, and translating security requirements into scalable technology solutions aligned with the NIST CSF, policy, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Typically 8+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, cloud security, or a related technology field.
• Experience managing blended teams of employees, contractors, and vendors.
• Hands-on or leadership experience in AWS and Azure environments.
• Strong ability to translate risk and regulatory requirements into implementable technical solutions.
• Experience developing security metrics and executive dashboards.
• Financial services or regulated-industry experience preferred.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, AWS Security Specialty, or Microsoft cybersecurity certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, engineering, implementation, and lifecycle management of security controls across on-premises, cloud, and data platforms.
• Align security capabilities to the NIST CSF functions and categories with governance and risk requirements.
• Manage a blended team of employees and contractors and set engineering priorities and standards.
• Coordinate with Security Architecture, Operations, Identity and Access Management, and IT Risk teams to implement effective controls.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, runbooks, and evidence for governance, audit, and regulatory review.
• Provide reporting on roadmap progress, risk, and control performance to leadership.
