Job summary

The Atlantic is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to help deliver industry-leading security across applications and services. You will partner with engineering to architect secure systems, implement zero-trust networking, and secure data access controls.

The role includes on-call rotations and building tooling to enhance security postures across the platform. You will own security incidents end to end, triage root causes, and drive durable fixes while collaborating with operations to tune IAM

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering with a security focus.
Strong backend programming and DevOps experience (CI/CD, IaC, cloud platforms).
Deep understanding of secure software design and zero-trust principles.
Hands-on IAM, WAFs, and secure data access controls.
Experience owning security incidents end to end (triage, root cause, durable fixes).

Responsibilities

Partner with engineering to design apps with security baked in, including zero-trust networking.
Review architectures, code, and proposals to identify security issues before shipping.
Secure agentic and LLM-driven workflows to prevent over-access and exfiltration.
Collaborate with Operations to stand up and tune WAFs and IAM.
Develop tooling to simplify securing applications and data.
Triage incidents, analyze root causes, and implement durable fixes.
Participate in on-call rotations to monitor and resolve production issues.
Contribute to general DevOps and backend engineering across architecture.
