Job summary

Northwood Space in the United States is building a secure, real-time space communications network. We seek a Senior Security Engineer to design robust security frameworks for ground station infrastructure and space protocols, enabling rapid scaling while meeting the industry’s strict compliance requirements.

You will own the security stack from RF protocols to Kubernetes, implement enterprise SIEM, and coordinate with Space Force and government customers to protect national security missions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK).
• Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience conducting security architecture reviews in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIST 800-171, CUI, and FedRAMP frameworks.
• Familiarity with government cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and CI/CD deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design security architectures for brand-new ground station infrastructure and space communication protocols.
• Implement security controls for distributed systems across continents and multiple satellites.
• Deploy SIEM solutions and maintain detailed audit trails for stringent compliance.
• Write security playbooks and liaison with Space Force and other government customers.
• Lead incident response and threat hunting across a globally distributed network.
• Create automated compliance pipelines that satisfy FedRAMP and NIST 800-171 without hindering velocity.
