Job summary

Pomelo Care, a leading virtual medical practice for women and children, seeks a Security Engineer to own controls, automation, and code that reduce risk across our platform. The role reports to the VP of Engineering and can be based anywhere in the continental US.

You will partner with compliance, implement least-privilege guardrails, harden developer machines, and build secure-by-default libraries to enable dozens of engineers to move fast while staying safe.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with production-grade code
• Strong security depth including threat modeling, identity/auth flows, OWASP Top 10

Responsibilities

• Own security problems end to end: decide what matters, build and ship it independently.
• Identify real risks and implement direct controls to mitigate them.
• Build secure-by-default libraries, guardrails, and tooling for rapid yet safe engineering.
• Define least-privilege guardrails across all services to protect patient data.
• Harden developer machines to reduce supply chain and AI-related risks.
• Collaborate with compliance to translate control objectives into real controls.
